আবার জমিতে ব্যবহৃত রাসায়নিক সার এবং কীটনাশক দ্বারাও পানি দূষিত হয়। কল-কারখানার বর্জ্য নদী ও খালে ফেলার কারণে পানি দূষিত হয়। নদী ও খালের পাড়ে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা গ্রামাঞ্চলের অস্বাস্থ্যকর ল্যাট্রিনও পানিকে দূষিত করে। এভাবে বায়ু ও পানি দূষিত হয়।
ফলে আমাদের পরিবেশ দূষিত হচ্ছে। প্রতি বছর এই দূষণের ফলে সারা বিশ্বে লাখ লাখ মানুষ মারা যায়। বায়ু দূষণের কারণে নিউমোনিয়া, ব্রঙ্কাইটিস এবং অন্যান্য শ্বাসযন্ত্রের রোগ হয়। পানি দূষণ কলেরা, ডায়রিয়া ইত্যাদির কারণ হয়।
